how the kind squad came to be...
In 2020, during the pandemic, Jess Miller wanted to do something to contribute to the community.
Since her comedy club, where she had planned a Christmas in July event to kick off her Toy Drive for Foster Kids, was closed, she decided to start a campaign for Art Kits for Foster Kids. Jess posted in the Kind Squad group page on Facebook, which she had created in 2015, asking for donations.
One member expressed interest in donating but mentioned not having enough money to pay her water bill. Jess calculated that if 100 people donated $3 each, they could help cover the water bill.

And the Kind Squad was born. The Kind Squad is now made up of 100's of generous and kind humans who donate to help others one mission at a time. Everyone in the Kind Squad, both givers and receivers, stay anonymous. The only time someone isn't anonymous is when they choose to send a note or picture.

Since 2020, the Kind Squad has raised nearly $200,000 in small donations to assist people worldwide.
As of May 2024, the Kind Squad has applied to become a 501(c)3 organization.
